THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE QUEEN: Gig celebrating 40 years of Greenpeace
20-Oct-11
For the first time since 2008, Damon Albarn, Tony Allen, Paul Simonon and Simon Tong will come together for a show, a special one-off The Good, The Bad and The Queen gig at London's Coronet, New Kent Road on Thursday 10th November, 2011, celebrating 40 years of Greenpeace and the arrival of the new Rainbow Warrior III in London.
"We've always supported Greenpeace and their amazing work. It should be a great night, we're really looking forward to it." Paul Simonon
John Sauven, Executive Director of Greenpeace added "I can't think of a better way to celebrate our 40th Anniversary than with The Good, the Bad and the Queen. What makes it really special is that this show will coincide with the arrival of Greenpeace's brand new Rainbow Warrior to its new mooring on the Thames."
The Good The Bad And The Queen debuted with a show at The Roundhouse, London in October 2006, with an eponymous album released by Honest Jon's/Parlophone the following January, which garnered wide spread acclaim and was described by The Times as "..a tear inducing, beautiful record". A string of dates followed, including a farewell show to the Hammersmith Palais and an outdoor performance overlooking the River Thames at the Tower of London.
Greenpeace is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. What began as small group of campaigners sailing into a US nuclear testing sight in 1971 to try and halt nuclear proliferation, has 40 years later expanded into a environmental organisation with over 3 million supporters world wide that is leading the fight against global warming, the exploitation of areas in the Arctic for oil and the destruction of the rainforests in South East Asia and Latin America.
Tickets are available from this Friday 7th October at 9am from the usual outlets and on 0844 249 1000 / 0844 811 0051 / 020 7734 8932 / 0844 844 0444 / coronettheatre.co.uk / gigsandtours.com / ticketline.co.uk

The Britpop Story
11-Jun-10
Friday 11 June, 9:15pm - 9:45pm, BBC4
The musical line-up on BBC4 continues with an unlikely transition from hot-blooded Italian opera (La bohème at 7.30pm) to tongue-in-cheek indie. The Britpop Story (9.15pm), first shown in 2005, looks back at those heady days when virtually any English-accented guitar group could have a hit. Suddenly, it was cool to be British, even cooler to be working class, and fresh-faced Prime Minister Tony Blair felt compelled to invite Oasis to tea. In No Distance Left to Run, after a ten-year hiatus, a middle-aged Blur forget their quarrels and get in shape for their 2009 reunion tour (9.45pm). Their triumphant comeback performance at Glastonbury, featuring a choked-up Damon Albarn, follows at 11.30pm.

New Blur Single Fool's Day is available from www.blur.co.uk
18-Apr-10
Blur's new song Fool's Day recorded especially for Record Store Day has sold out on limited edition 7 inch vinyl record. Fool's Day was available across the UK at independent music retailers participating in Record Store Day. 1000 7 inch vinyl copies were pressed.
Blur's manager Chris Morrison has said it is important that the song was made available to fans legally. "To avoid fans having to illegally obtain an inferior copy of this track from pirate sites - we have made it freely available through the band's website".
Fool's Day is available from www.blur.co.uk at midnight this evening, Saturday April 17, 2010.
Recorded in London earlier this month, Fool's Day is the first song 4 members of Blur have recorded together since Battery In Your Leg from the album Think Tank (2003).

Damon presenting the Zane Lowe show on Radio 1 (News from blurfanclub.co.uk)
9-Jan-09
Damon will be presenting Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show on Wednesday of next week:
There are unconfirmed reports that Damon will use the opportunity to showcase some as yet unreleased material.
Also, there is a BBC4 programme on Suzi Winstanley, Damon's partner, at 10pm on 2 Feb. I'm unsure if the programme features Damon, but promises to be an interesting documentary on her work as a wildlife artist.
